“Jesus’s resurrection is the beginning of God’s purposes not to just take people away from earth to heaven but to colonize earth with the life of heaven.”
— N.T. Wright
A movement of God coming to Earth…
Continually throughout the Scriptures, we see a movement of God coming to Earth. New Creation is a vision of a new reality coming to birth. What does it look like when Heaven comes to Earth?
This is why we share the gospel and invite individuals into new creation life (by grace through faith). It also means the church works to end poverty, to create art, to improve education, to make marriages last, to end family cycles of abuse and abandonment, to improve banking and food services and to create better paying jobs.
Christians work to restore all these institutions back to their design by the Creator. But we do all of these things, not as a rotary club or philanthropists, but as the Church of Jesus Christ. The church equips its ordinary members so that they can go into every sector of society to bring the redemption accomplished by Jesus Christ.
We desire to see justice where there is injustice, safety where there is abuse, generosity where there is greed, deep connection where there is loneliness, racial unity where there is division and resurrection where there is death.
Flora Ridge Elementary
One of the primary ways our church serves the community is through the partnership with Flora Ridge Elementary school. Thanksgiving meals, back to school backpacks and teacher appreciation days are all ways that we currently invest in the community.
Welcome Corps
The Welcome Corps is a service opportunity for Americans in communities across the country to make a lasting impact by helping refugees build new lives in the United States. Marking the boldest innovation in the United States’ approach to refugee resettlement in four decades, the initiative builds upon our country’s long tradition of providing refuge to people forced to flee their homes in search of safety and freedom.
